Spring Door Wreath Tutorial

Hello!

So we just got back from our Spring Break.

We went to our parents'.

We had fun!

There was tons of eating, movie watching, visiting, cooking, and even a cookout.

However- Baby Girl, Little Miss, and myself were all sick.

Boo!

We're on the mend though- so Yay!!!

Here is a Wreath Tutorial that I made a couple of weeks ago.

What you'll need:

3 inch Strips of your favorite fabrics- any colors- I chose rainbow colors
Fabric scraps- different colors and sizes
A Styrofoam wreath- any size- You pick
Buttons
Hot glue gun
Tread
needle
Maybe a sewing machine (depending on how you choose to make your flowers)

It will look like a big mess getting started:

Start by wrapping your fabric pieces on one at a time.  I only glued every so often and only on the back side of the wreath to keep from having glue lumps on the front.  You don't have to glue every square inch of fabric- just every so often.

It will look like this when you're done wrapping your fabric:

Once you are done wrapping your wreath with fabric you can make your fabric flowers.  I used Cotton, Burlap, and some felt for my flowers.  I apologize that I forgot to take pictures while I was making mine.

Bummer I know right?!  Ha!

I'll make some more soon and post a tutorial for them.

Some are done with a sewing machine and then I pulled the tread to pull all the fabric to the center making the pleated "flower" look.  The cheetah print one I twisted fabric hot gluing it to a round piece of felt as I twisted.  The centers of most of the flowers are just round, cut out pieces of fabric with buttons that I sewed thread into and then glued on.

Let your imagination take you anywhere you want on this part!

Use plastic flowers, fabric flowers, plastic berries- Go wild!

I'm not totally happy with my end project, but overall it turned out okay.

I was going for Spring-y and I feel like I achieved that.

I found this idea on Pinterest.  The original idea was a wreath wrapped with yarn and it's tutorial can be found HERE at My Little Corner Of The World:

It's way cuter than mine.
I tried to add some plastic flowers to mine like she did and just couldn't get it to work.
Oh well.
No worries!
Give it a try, and be sure to leave me a comment letting me know if you tried it out and what ideas you had to make it even better!  And if you post about it- Leave me a link back to your post!  I'd love to see what you came up with!
I can't think of a better way to bring in Spring that to do it with a colorful Spring Wreath on your front door!
WELCOME SPRING!!!

I'm Taking It All Off...

My hair that is.

I got my hair cut the other day.

It looks something like this...

I'm hating it.

Don't get me wrong- it's a great cut.

It just doesn't look good on me.

Something about the front being longer than the back is making my face look too long and my nose look to skinny (and long).

Boo.

I wish I could pull off long, flowing, wavy locks.

Something like this maybe...

Ohhhh- or this...

I'm loving the bangs!!!

But no.
It would Never- I mean NEVER work.

My nose would look so Looonnnnggg and Skinny and my face would look like it went on for miles and miles...Scary.

I've excepted this about myself.

But I really thought that the cut I just got would be short enough.
I HAVE to have bangs because I'm a freak about my forehead having coverage- So I thought I'd be safe there too.

But NO.
No.  I wasn't.
It's not okay.
It's a tragedy actually.
Something Must be done.

Here's the plan...

Love this.

and this.

Pink- "You're my new Hair Hero."
FYI- I'd totally do the blond if I could pull it off- but again- NO.

Oh yes.  I think I will.

So what do you think of my choices?

I've totally done the short before.  It looks good on me and makes me feel good.  I don't even know why I try to go longer.

I guess I just get bored?
Lazy?
Tired of having to get my hair cut every few weeks to keep up with the style?
Tired of looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket while I was sleeping each morning?  Most Definitely.
Tired of forking over the hubster's hard earned cash more often?

It's probably a combination of all of the above.

The hubster prefers my hair short like these choices actually. Crazy right?.! Most guys are like-
Insert whining voice-..."Keep your hair long! It's sexier that way."
My man just knows whats up.
What can I say?.

So- It's on my to-do list for the week.  Get a Haircut.

Consider it- did.

On a completely different note-

I'm working on some new projects.
Hence- the fabric explosion taking place in my living room right now...

We live in a 2 bedroom house.

Five of us.
+ the Smelly Beast -aka-our basset hound- see her up there?  She smells.  Like all the time.
It's tight to say the least.

Unfortunately I don't have any pretty pictures of a pretty craft room to show you.
I wish I did- because it can get pretty wild when Mama starts crafting.
So I've been putting it off.

However- the time has come to get it DONE.

They're going to be bags in case you were wondering (and even if you weren't- I told you anyway)...

Loving Little Baby G's fabric for her new bag...

Once the above is done I'm searching for my next project...

This one is full of some serious gems...

What do you read for inspiration?

I start getting with it- TOMORROW.

I'll take pictures.

Don't worry.

I'm linking up with Seriously Shawn for Talk To Us Tuesday (even though technically it's Monday) again this week...

Not Very Truthful

Okay.

I told you that I was going to have all my stuff up in my Etsy Shop yesterday.

I lied.

I'm sorry.

Have I mentioned that I just had a baby 2 weeks ago.

I'm nursing.  I'm staying up a lot during the night.  I'm not always getting that nap I need.  Sometimes I am napping.  I have 2 older kids.  The list could go on and on really- however, I won't bore you with the details of why I'm slacking in the getting my stuff into my Etsy Shop category.

Let's just say I got busy, as most mom's do, and leave it at that.

I do however have some lovely pictures of some of the beautiful items that will be going into the Shop.

So for your viewing pleasure- Here you go (Warning*- Lots of pictures to follow*):

Well?

The Rainbow Necklace is a lot of fun.  Don't you think?

And the Turquoise and Yellow piece is one that could really be worn so many ways!  Casual- Formal- Day- Night- Work- Going out- The skies the limit!

So really! - Check back at the shop tomorrow for these pieces to be posted with info and prices.  That's tomorrow's BIG Goal!

So, obviously I've been doing a few other things this weekend instead of the one thing I said I was going to do.

We live in a great little town.  Tons of art, galleries, shops, restaurants, and Always something going on!  Saturday night we headed downtown to a Mardi Gras Parade.

Remember when I mentioned that I always let Little Miss dress herself?... Nice right?!.

She loves this hat because it looks like she has long hair.  Her mean mama makes her cut it in the cute little bob w/ bangs.  Dont' judge me- when she's older she can decide for herself people.

Side by side we waited patiently for the parade to start.

Candy and Beads were thrown.  Poor Little Man waved and waved and they hardly ever threw the little guy anything.  Luckily the sweet couple we were sitting by kept giving the kids their beads and candy.

On the way back to the car Little Miss kept admiring all the pretty store fronts.  This one was her favorite because of the big necklaces.

Sunday we went outside and Little Miss had a big time climbing in the tree out front.  Yes she wore her church dress.  Who doesn't let their kids climb trees in fancy dresses and panty hose?!  Oh- you don't?  Interesting.

Little Man and his daddy played a little wiffle ball.  He throws a mean curve ball.

While taking pictures of the mean wiffle ball game I heard a yell and turned around to find Little Miss hanging upside down in the tree with her foot stuck and her undies flashing to the whole neighborhood!  But of course before I saved her I had to take a picture.

And of course no wiffle ball game is complete without a lesson at the end- Right?!

I of course dressed up for the occasion (I hope none of the neighbors saw me).  I did not however wear these to church- although- I wish I could have!

It was a great weekend!  Little Man's Raven's won the Super Bowl!

What did you do?
